How Much Does an Elevator Cost in India? A 2026 Price Guide

Elevator Pricing in India: What You Need to Know

One of the most common questions we receive at Fluxus Elevators is: how much does an elevator cost? The honest answer is that it depends on several variables — the type of elevator, its capacity, speed, number of stops, door type, cabin finish, and whether the building has a machine room or requires an MRL (machine-room-less) solution. This guide gives you a realistic picture of elevator pricing in India as of 2026.

Factors That Determine Elevator Cost

The biggest cost drivers are capacity (measured in kg or number of passengers), speed (measured in metres per second), number of stops, and the type of doors and cabin finishes you choose. A basic 6-person elevator with manual doors and a simple powder-coated cabin will cost significantly less than a 13-person lift with automatic doors, touchless COP panels, and a stainless steel mirror-polished interior.

Indicative Price Ranges (2026)

For a standard residential passenger elevator in a G+4 building (6 persons, 1.0 m/s, 5 stops, manual doors), prices typically start from approximately 5 to 7 lakhs. For a mid-range installation with automatic doors and a better cabin finish (8 persons, 1.0 m/s), expect 7 to 10 lakhs. Premium elevators with higher speeds, touch/touchless COP panels, and designer cabin interiors can range from 10 to 18 lakhs or more, depending on specifications.

Hospital and stretcher elevators are generally 15 to 30 percent more expensive than passenger elevators of similar capacity because of the larger car dimensions, smoother ride requirements, and additional safety features. Goods elevators vary widely based on capacity — a 1-ton goods lift might cost 6 to 9 lakhs, while a 3-to-5-ton freight elevator can cost 12 to 25 lakhs.

Understanding Total Cost of Ownership

The purchase and installation price is only part of the equation. Over 20 years, the total cost of ownership includes annual maintenance (AMC or CMC), electricity consumption, and occasional part replacements. A well-maintained traction elevator consumes approximately 3 to 5 units of electricity per hour of operation. An AMC typically costs 15,000 to 30,000 rupees per year, while a CMC can range from 30,000 to 75,000 rupees depending on the elevator's age and complexity.
